When we follow God’s commands on a daily basis, you could say we are digesting His words and our bodies, minds and souls will be well nourished by them.

Mind Squats

I bet most of you have never heard of “Mind Squats,” that’s because I just made it up. You probably do them, but give them another name. So I’m just trying to find a way to give meaning to the Daily Post word of the day, which is “Squat.”

As I grow older, I find that I have to do many things to stay in adequate physical shape. In order to stay free from aches and pains, I have to do squats to help straightened and stretch my back.

We take great care to look after our bodies, but our minds are also very important. We should also on a daily basis do some exercises to keep our minds filled with positive thoughts. Every time we have a glimmer of a negative thought we should bring it back to the positive. This can be a very difficult thing to do, but when we have faith and believe in God, He will give us the strength to get through.

Philippians 4:8 …….Whatever is true, whatever is noble ever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.

Will We Pass The Test



Test me, Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind. Psalm 26:2

Wow, can you imagine asking God to take a look at your heart and your mind? God wants us to live a life so honest and pure, a life where He could examine us at any time, and find only His goodness in our hearts and on our lips.

At this time in history so many of us are wondering what is going on. We continue to wonder why our churches seem to be in such disarray. We can quote any given scripture to make our point, but are we actually living the scriptures out in our daily lives?

If we say we are Christians, we should be able to stand before God and ask Him to test our hearts and our minds

I pray that I will be able to live a life where God can test my heart and my mind at any time, as I know that I can hide nothing from God.

Set Free

I have been set free.

I have scaled the barbed wired fence

That surrounded the prison of my own making.

Tattered clothes are now restored

With new clothes

Which Jesus has offered.

Set Free

Brought through the Refiner’s Fire.

Years of burning now ended.

Hesitantly I test the ground beneath my feet,

For all I knew was my prison cell.

Obedience and constant acknowledgement,

This is now my new way of life.

I wrote this poem after realizing that I no longer felt tortured by all the negative thoughts that ran through my mind on a daily basis. Many of us are allowing the Enemy to manipulate our minds. We want to be free, but it seems that most will look for complex ways to achieve this goal and we will vilify the only One that can totally set us free.

Day after day many of us are wondering; “Why do I feel so sad?” “Why do I hate myself and others?” “Why do I see no hope?” The list goes on and on. Personally speaking, I believe it’s the strong bond we have with the Enemy (Satan and his fallen angels.) He smiles as he watches the destruction of humans. Many say that they want to be in control of their own lives, but don’t realize we are either under God’s Guidance, or we are under the manipulation of the Enemy. Our minds are so warped that we find what the Enemy has to offer sweet, and what God has to offer as restrictive. We do need a shift in our thinking, so that we may live free and lifted up.

Ripped From the Headlines: Space Junk About to Hit Earth

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Ripped from the Headlines!.”

The headline that grabbed my attention was one which read “Space junk to hit Earth.” Astronomers are tracking it, and they think it will test our readiness for any future atmospheric events. (CNN News)

Someone is about to return to this earth, and I’m not sure how many are tracking His approach. While we do not know when His actual return is, we do know that there are signs that tell us that His coming is near. Matthew 24: 36 But of the day and hour (of Jesus return) no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, but my Father only. Now is the time for us to get ready so that we may be saved. Some of the sign that shows us we are living at the end of time are:

1 Many people using God’s name, when they do not really know who He is.

2 Much unrest with nation fighting against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

3 There will be famines, pestilences (Plagues, viruses, deadly diseases,)  and earthquakes. We now see these things more frequently, thus Global Warming.

4 Christians being killed and hated because they believe in God.

5 There will be an abundance of lawlessness (anarchy, chaos, disorder, unruliness,) whatever you choose to call it, it is a sign of the end of times.

6 The love of many will grow cold….all this is taken from Matthew 24

At this moment in the world, hate seems to be thriving, but we know that it will not win out. The bigger battle that is ongoing right now, but not being seen by many is a battle between God and Satan, a battle between Good and Evil. This battle is taking place in each of our minds, and we will either lean toward the “Good” which is from “God, or we will go towards the “Evil” which is from Satan. This is what God will do for us when we keep our minds focus on Him. “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed (remains) on you. Because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3. And if our minds are not focused on Christ, we are saying we choose to walk with Satan, there is no middle ground I see here. We either choose to walk in light or in darkness.

So just as the scientist track the Space Junk that is about to hit this earth, year after year, we are to look at the signs around us, prepare ourselves, and know that the coming of the Lord is near, and He will soon break the clouds in all His glory.

The dictionary meaning of the word meditate is: to contemplate, to ponder, to think, to consider, to reflect, to ruminate, to muse, to turn over in one’s mind.

There are many places in the Bible which speak on Meditating. All through the Psalms references are made. In many of the references when David is meditating he is thinking on the laws of God or he is thinking on the wonderful works of His Maker.

I will meditate on your precepts , And contemplate Your ways. Psalm 119:15

I will also meditate on all Your work, and talk of all Your deeds. Psalm 77:12



Why is it then that when we speak of meditating today, we speak of clearing the mind. We seem to think that a mind empty of everything will bring us peace, yet the Bible says that can be a very dangerous thing. The verses below speak of a man whose mind was cured of all evil spirits or negative ways. Instead of changing his ways he continued on the same path and ended up worse that before. So an empty mind does not mean a peaceful mind.

The Danger of Emptiness Luke 11

 “When an evil spirit comes out of someone, it travels through dry places, looking for a place to rest. But it finds no place to rest. So it says, ‘I will go back to the home I left.’ 25 When it comes back, it finds that home all neat and clean. 26 Then the evil spirit goes out and brings back seven other spirits more evil than itself. They all go and live there, and that person has even more trouble than before.” Easy to Read Version (ERV)

So from this we can see that we are never to leave our minds empty. As we rid our minds of negative thinking, we must keep filling the mind with positive thoughts….God’s thoughts.

When I was at my lowest and ready to give up on really believing, I had an encounter with the Holy Spirit. Now it is my mission to hopefully open the eyes of others to the Holy Spirit. Just before Jesus returned to heaven, He made the Holy Spirit available to us, but so many of us forget to invite Him into our lives, and as a result we suffer needlessly. The Holy Spirit awakened my mind and inspired me to write this poem.

The Holy Spirit woke me up this morning,

He tapped me behind the ear.

The Holy Spirit woke me up this morning,

There was something He wanted to say.

He told me yesterday is no longer,

A brand new day has come my way.

The Holy Spirit woke me up this morning,

Thank God it’s no longer yesterday.

The Holy Spirit woke me up this morning,

He told me of many victories ahead

Victories gained when we ask Jesus

To feed us with His daily bread.

The Holy Spirit woke me up this morning,

He is available to every mind.

All those who search the Words of life are promised 

“Seek, and you will find.”

He speaks to those who choose to hear,

He is real and ever guiding.

By steadfast faith and true obedience,

Let us bring Him out of hiding.

  1. Many of us at one time or another have suffered from some form of depression. I also know that as longs as we have some physical ailment our bodies are more apt to be depressed. Here are some helpful tips that will transform us into better human beings whether we are depressed or not.
  2. Get the proper amount of rest needed on a daily basis. Also make sure to do some form of exercise even when you don’t feel like it. Drink lots of water to keep your body well hydrated and to help flush the toxins from your body.
  3. I’ve had to learn the hard way that sugar depresses the system. So if you have a sweet tooth, start trying to abstain. Sugar is also bad for many other reasons, but in my case it was also a catalyst for pain. Shortly after eating sweets, I would feel the difference in my body, and the feelings were never good ones.
  4. Let go of all negative and angry thoughts. Many of us tend to lean more toward negative thinking than toward the positive. Say things to yourself like; “I feel so happy today.” “I am beautiful.” We may not believe these things about ourselves, but God did make us in His image, and if we say them enough, they can become a reality.
  5. Maintain your positive thoughts, and whenever a negative thought comes replace it with the positive. There is a Supernatural world around us, and there is an unseen war going on for our lives. Satan and his demons are seeking to destroy the minds of many with negative thoughts and negative ways of thinking. Not too many want to hear about God or to believe in a God we cannot see, but God and His goodness is the very One that our minds are in need of.thumbnail
  6. If we would allow ourselves to look at God’s Word and to believe it, we would see that just before Jesus left this earth and went into heaven, He said He would not leave us alone. He said He would leave us a Comforter, all we need to do was to ask Him to come live within us. Jesus also requested that we should follow His commandments, and His commandments would show us how to love and how to live a better life. God is gracious and merciful. When we invite His Holy Spirit in, He will lead us in every way that is right. The Holy Spirit has a “Still Small Voice,” so when we invite Him into our lives, the scary negative thoughts we once had will be replaced with uplifting and comforting words that He will whisper to us. Our bodies will now be filling with Light, and the darkness of the demons will be greatly diminished.

John 14:15 “If you love me keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper that He may abide with you forever—-17 the spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive, because it either sees Him nor knows Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. Butchart Garden

This poem is from my book “Taming the Wild.” “Taming the Wild” is about me. It’s about me allowing the Holy Spirit to take my character through the refining process. Of course this is an ongoing process, and will be until the very end. As the Holy Spirit refines us, He will bring things to our minds to enlighten us, and these are some of the things He brought to my mind.

We walk in darkness

Not realizing our minds are infected

For as soon as Eve ate of the fruit

From our Lord we became disconnected.

All God’s human beings, had minds that were pure,

Then jealousy crept in,

And Satan made us less secure.

Since he cannot tempt God,

He cunningly afflicted minds of the human race,

But our minds can be restored, so that one day, our God, we may face.

Our choices and our thought help us to make up our minds,

When the thoughts within seep outward,

They always need to be refine.

Two Masters we cannot serve, one leads to sinful desires.

The other leads to freedom,

By our actions we will show which we admire.

Evil has so confused us,

We go left when we should be going right.

Each Christian is in a battle,

With God in our lives we can win this fight.

The whole world is undergoing a great battle. Even for Christians the walk can be very difficult, but if we solidly connect to God, putting on His armour, we have a better chance of winning the battle. Let’s all get suited up with “God’s Love,” and stamp Satan out.

Practically each day on the news, we hear of something bad happening and we are told that the person was either distraught or that they had mental issues. While I have no credentials, I do believe that to have “Mental Issues” is to have demons residing within. It is not a fairy tale that Satan was cast out of heaven and that he has the power to manipulate and tempt. On the other hand if we were more connected to God and knew that we have the Power of the Holy Spirit available to us, many of these problems that we suffer from would be greatly diminished.

I’m not discouraging anyone from taking medication or from seeking help, but I do think that we should also take a serious look at the bible and the Words within its pages. Power and strength and healing are just a few of the gems that lies within the pages of the bible. So the very book that we are avoiding, and the very Person that we are avoiding (God,) is just what we could be needing for total healing of the body, mind and soul.
