Outlier In Thoughts

#Christianity, #Disease, #Health, #Medication, #Meditation, #Mental Illness, #Mental Issues

I’ll make this very brief, so that I don’t go into rambling, but after looking up the meaning of the word “Outlier,” I think that I can certainly be considered Outlier in my thinking. At least I’m sure those close to me think so.

If you’ve read any of my earlier blogs I speak on depression and mental Illness. I know that it is a complex issue, one that I may never fully understand, I make sure to tell everyone to seek medical help, take their medications, but in doing all this, do not discount getting under the protection of God. I may be out there in my thinking because as we do everything else to help ourselves, sometimes we exclude the very One that could help us.

I have suffered depression, I have had anxious moments, maybe not as severe as some, but in doing all to help myself, I have also learned to wrestle with God and wait for Him to strengthen me.

Another place where I may be considered “Outlier,” is when I’m out in nature. Not too many of those who know me, like to accompany me on the trails. I must find like-minded people for that.

When we get on the trails, I like to speak in hushed tones, I like to be still, I like to be quiet, this is for the wildlife that may be around, but I find it also does something for my whole well-being. It’s exciting, it’s invigorating, and of course I’m always hoping to get a good shot.

These are the two main things that could make me appear outlier to others.

No Need For Upheaval

God is still in Control

Sometimes things just don’t make any sense to us, but we just have to remember that God is always in control, His ways are not our ways, nor His thoughts our thoughts. God blesses the ones that love Him and He blesses the ones that have no thought of Him. He raises up and He tears down. God is God, and only He knows why things turn out the way they do.

All we need to do is to keep trusting in God, not only when the way looks bright and sunny, but we must also trust in Him to get us through the darkness.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3: 5-6

Rejected By God

Some of you have been inquiring of me in regards to my “Daily Potion.” I am so sorry, but I have been so busy, but as I think about it, I should never let my business come before God’s Business.

I’ve been doing a read through of the bible and today I read 1 Samuel 15 where Saul has been anointed King over the children of Israel. Samuel went to Saul and told him what God wanted him (Saul) to do. Saul went forward and did most of what God had asked of him. He did what he thought was best in his eyes by sparing the king’s life and by sparing the cattle that was healthy. God was not pleased with only the “Partial Obedience” by Saul, and as a result, He rejected him as the King of Israel.

God has also requested that we follow His ten commandments, not one commandment, not two commandments, but all ten. When we neglect to do as God says we are also in danger of Him also rejecting us.

Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
as much as in obeying the Lord?
To obey is better than sacrifice, 1 Samuel 15:22

Paradise At Last

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelations 21: 1-4

In my last two blog posts we spoke of Jesus coming back for a second time. We saw where He sat on the cloud and sent His angels out to gather His children. Graves were opened and the ones who died believing in Christ were the first to be lifted up to meet Jesus in the sky. Then the believers who were alive when Jesus came back a second time were also lifted up to be with Him.

At the time we were lifted up to meet Jesus, our bodies were changed. We will no longer live with sadness, pain or tears. We are now all free of negative emotions. Happiness only is the new order of the day. We will spend a thousand years with Jesus in heaven before coming back to live on a new and purified earth. Satan will be gotten rid of, and we will live with God forever and ever.

There is hope….

Dedicated To The One I Love

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. Mark 12:30

So it seems as though God has placed on my heart this message, and that is to relay that when all minds are focused on Him (God) there will be no place to harbour negative feelings. There will be no place for feeling the likes of depression. There will be peace, and there will be an abiding hope, that one day we will live in eternity with Him.

When we give God our full attention, it is only then that we will be led in the right direction.

#Christianity, #Mental Illness

The bible shows us how we can be free. When we come  out from under God’s protection, we open ourselves up to evil, this is also what happened in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve were created to be free. They had everything given to them, with only one restriction. The restriction was given to them so that they could have the freedom of choice to either obey or disobey. Once they disobeyed, we were plunged into sin. We became separated from God , but Jesus came to this earth, died on the cross and rose again, so that we could reclaim our freedom.

Nebuchadnezzar was a king who knew God only on a superficial level. He acknowledge God only with his lips, but not with his heart. He was rich and proud and refused to give God thanks for all that he had acquire. As a result of not acknowledging God, Nebuchadnezzar lost his mind and lived like a homeless person or a wild animal would. He went from having everything to having nothing. He had an attitude like many of us today. He praised himself for the great wealth that he had, and thought he had gained it by his own hard work and in his own strength. He did not recognize it as a blessing from God. Daniel 4:29-30 While on the roof the king said, “Look at Babylon! I built this great city. It is my palace to show how great I am.” As a result of his pride, he lost his wealth and his mind also. The bible tells us he ate grass like an animal, his toe nails were like the claws of a bird, and his hair was like eagle feathers. So he became very dishevelled, just like one who is insane.

Some how through all his insanity, Nebuchadnezzar remembered something deep within and he cried out to God. Once Nebuchadnezzar recognized God, (and it must have been from his heart this time, no longer superficial,) his mind was restored. Daniel 4:34 Then at the end of that time, I Nebuchadnezzar, looked up toward heaven, and was in my “right mind” again. Then I gave praise to the most high. I gave honour and glory to Him who lives forever. God rules forever! His kingdom continues for all generations.

Nebuchadnezzar’s riches were all restored to him. If God’s kingdom continues forever, then we have to be mindful that He is to be honoured and held in high esteem by us. If we are to stay in “Our Right Minds” we should have a heart to heart relationship with God and not only a superficial one.

A Man Possessed By Demons

When Jesus walked this earth He healed many people of their ailments. There was a man who Jesus healed that we today might say was mentally ill, but in the bible it said that the man had evil spirits within him.

Luke 28: 27- 29 When Jesus got out of the boat, a man from that town came to Him. This man had demons inside him. For a long time he had worn no clothes. He did not live in a house, but in the caves where the dead are buried. 28-29 The demon inside the man had often seized him, and he had been put in jail with his hands and feet in chains. But he would always break the chains. The demon inside him would force him to go out to the places where no one lived.

The man told Jesus he had many demons inside of him. So Jesus cast out the demons, and the bible tells us that the man was in his “right mind” again.

Luke 8:35 ……..They came to Jesus and found the man sitting there at the feet of Jesus, the man had clothes on, and was in his “right mind” again.

Today when something bad happens, apart from saying that they were “mentally ill,” the television reporter will also say, “they had demons,” or that “their demons  got the better of them.” this is exactly what is happening. Satan will tempt and lure us into wrong situations, he will also isolate us like he did to this man, taking him out to the graves where no one lived. He, Satan, will slowly and deliberately infiltrate the unsuspecting mind. By looking up toward heaven we can make his job much harder.

It is my opinion that since there is nothing new under the sun, that what the bible refers to as demons or evil spirits, is what we refer to as insanity and mental illness. If we too would raise our heads and look to God, we could live life peaceful and happy and in “our right minds.”

While professional help and medication may still be needed in most cases, God is not to be discounted.

Practically each day on the news, we hear of something bad happening and we are told that the person was either distraught or that they had mental issues. While I have no credentials, I do believe that to have “Mental Issues” is to have demons residing within. It is not a fairy tale that Satan was cast out of heaven and that he has the power to manipulate and tempt. On the other hand if we were more connected to God and knew that we have the Power of the Holy Spirit available to us, many of these problems that we suffer from would be greatly diminished.

I’m not discouraging anyone from taking medication or from seeking help, but I do think that we should also take a serious look at the bible and the Words within its pages. Power and strength and healing are just a few of the gems that lies within the pages of the bible. So the very book that we are avoiding, and the very Person that we are avoiding (God,) is just what we could be needing for total healing of the body, mind and soul.
