The Bridegroom Came Later

If you are a Christian you know the story of the Ten Virgins, of whom five were wise, and five foolish. If you are not a Christian, and not familiar with the story you can find the story in Matthew 25 of the bible.

For those of you who are familiar with the show Survivor, they always say : “Your burning torch represents life, when that light is snuffed out, you are finished, you are out of the game.”

The Ten Virgins all thought they were ready to meet the Bridegroom (Jesus.) This could be likened to ten people who say they are Christians and love Jesus.

When the Bridegroom (Jesus) did not come at the set time, they all feel asleep. This could be like ten Christians weary of waiting for Jesus to return, and because He doesn’t seem to be coming in our timing, we all stray, some more than others, back to bad unchristian habits.

The Bridegroom finally appears and the five foolish virgins are found without oil for their lamps, for it had burned out while they were asleep, and they had to leave to go find oil. This could be likened to five Christians who had gotten tired and strayed so far from God, that they could not find their way back to Him, when He final arrived. Not being filled with God’s word and Spirit, they had to spend time going to search His word out, as they did not carry it in their hearts.

On the other hand, the five wise virgins on hearing the Bridegroom was coming, got the extra oil that they had brought with them and put it in their lamps and they were ready to meet Him. This would be the Christians who also strayed a little, as we all do as human beings from time to time, but they knew enough to call out on God, asked for forgiveness, repented of their wrong, and was ready to meet the Bridegroom (Jesus.)

The Five Virgins who left later returned.

11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’

12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’

13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour. Matthew 25: 11

Passport To Eternity

How do I obtain my passport?

How do I obtain my pass to that heavenly place?

I must acknowledge Jesus, if I wish to see His face to face.

How do I get that travel permit, what things must I do?

I must acknowledge all Gods commands, and not just a few.

I must have faith, agree that Jesus walked this earth and died but rose again,

He did all this, that one day I might live in eternity, without any pain.

How do I obtain that ticket, to spend a life walking the Streets of Gold?

I must believe in Father, Son and Holy Spirit

Let my life reflect Jesus’ love, the ending will soon unfold.

My Ultimate Hideout….My Refuge

#Christianity, #Holy Spirit, Encouragement

After spending much time seeking safety in the wrong things and in the wrong place, I have finally found my “Ultimate Hideout.”

I never knew this could be truly possible, but I now know, that I have full access to God through His Holy Spirit. THIS SPIRIT HAS A COMFORTING VOICE He carries me, He speaks words of comfort to my mind and I know that the words of the bible are not antiquated. On my part I must have faith that God hears my every cry, and He will lift me up.

Prayer is another way that I choose to use as a “Hideout.”(Refuge) I pray and I wait for Him to answer. God does answer us in His time. Sometimes He also answers in way we may not like, so we choose not to follow Him, that’s why most of us will end up living unhappy and unfulfilled lives.

Here are a few more scriptures on Refuge….(Hideout.)

Psalm 7:1 Lord my God, I take refuge in You; save and deliver me from all who pursue me.

Psalm 9:9 The Lord is a refuge (Hiding Place) for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

Psalms 14:6 The evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the Lord is their refuge. (Hideout.)

How to Get Gods Blessings

We are told: Let love and faithfulness never leave you; we are told to carry them always in our hearts and when we do this we will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Proverbs 3:1-6

In all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:6

Yes, God is Merciful and Gracious, and even when we do not acknowledge Him, He blesses us. God blesses us by allowing us to live to see another day. God blesses some with wealth, they may think they have amass it in their own strength, but they can do nothing without God.

When we do surrender our lives to God, He gives us a fuller blessing. God grants His people peace. God gives His people prosperity, not prosperity as the world sees it. He gives an abundance of Spiritual Wealth, He fills the void that no money can ever fill, that is why some with much wealth will still take their own lives. Though wealthy they still remain empty on the inside….Spiritual wealth is the key to a peaceful life, one that will find favor with God.

You And Your Future

Someone asked me to write on this topic, and immediately it made me pause and think about what could be ahead of me in this life.

I am living my life looking forward to seeing a brighter future. There is so much darkness around us, so much hate, so much evil and despair, but I have to look beyond that to something that is imminent, something that will be bright and glorious. That is the Second coming of Jesus.

As I look forward to that day with joy, I am also praying for an abundance of God’s strength, that I will stay close to Him as a good sheep would, I pray that I will not lose faith and bolt in fright to save my own life, something which I cannot do any way.

When I was young I remember reading the bible and thinking why would Peter do such a thing as to deny Jesus. As I grew older, I realized that I could possibly do the same thing. Now I am at a point in my life, where I am leaning hard on God and asking Him to give me that supernatural power that I will need to stand up and claim Him in all situations. I know it can be done, because sometimes we  hear on the news that some brave souls died, but while faced with the difficult situation, they still did not renouncing Jesus or their Christian faith. Matthew 26:31 [ Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial ] Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’

We know that horrific things will happen at the end of this world because the bible says so, and it seems to be getting rather horrific out there, so I pray that my future will see me remaining one of God’s faithful sheep (followers) right till the bitter end.

When I was at my lowest and ready to give up on really believing, I had an encounter with the Holy Spirit. Now it is my mission to hopefully open the eyes of others to the Holy Spirit. Just before Jesus returned to heaven, He made the Holy Spirit available to us, but so many of us forget to invite Him into our lives, and as a result we suffer needlessly. The Holy Spirit awakened my mind and inspired me to write this poem.

The Holy Spirit woke me up this morning,

He tapped me behind the ear.

The Holy Spirit woke me up this morning,

There was something He wanted to say.

He told me yesterday is no longer,

A brand new day has come my way.

The Holy Spirit woke me up this morning,

Thank God it’s no longer yesterday.

The Holy Spirit woke me up this morning,

He told me of many victories ahead

Victories gained when we ask Jesus

To feed us with His daily bread.

The Holy Spirit woke me up this morning,

He is available to every mind.

All those who search the Words of life are promised

“Seek, and you will find.”

He speaks to those who choose to hear,

He is real and ever guiding.

By steadfast faith and true obedience,

Let us bring Him out of hiding.

I was on my way to work one snowy morning. The roads were very slippery, and the weather forecasters were asking for the drivers to use caution. I had a habit, especially during the winter months, of watching for fresh green lights. Then I would know if I could clear the intersection safely or if I needed to slow down.

I was driving down a hill and as I was approaching the intersection, the lights changed from red to green. I knew I could keep going without having to break suddenly. But no! There was that Small Voice, calling me by name and telling me to slow down. I thought it to be nonsense because I had a fresh green light, and the light would allow me to clear the intersection without having to apply my brakes on the slippery road. I continued driving at the same space, when I heard that “Voice” again telling me to slow down. I decided to take a chance and listen, so I slowed down.

I was about to move through the intersection on a green light, but before I could do so, a car came barreling through the intersection from the other side, obviously going through a red light. If I was clearing the intersection a second earlier, it would have smashed into me.

Immediately I recognized that “Voice” as the Holy Spirit, which had guided me to safety. He had help me to avoid what could have been a very bad accident. I thank God for leaving us with the Holy Spirit (Comforter,) who is available to each and every one of us. When we know God’s Word, it makes it much easier to recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit.

I would love to hear for you so please leave your comments letting me know if you’ve had similar experiences.
