I am Leola Durant. While I struggle to find a proper balance in life there are still many things I’ve found to do and to enjoy. These are things that I can do in my own time and at my own pace.

Because of chronic illness I discovered a very close relationship with my God, through His Holy Spirit. When I was at my lowest I felt His strengthening Word being spoken to my mind and from that evolved a book of Poetry called; “Walking With The Spirit. ” Since writing that book I have written many other poems.

I have also discovered a love for Nature and Wildlife, and as I view nature I see the Hand of the Master Creator. I also have found a great love for photography and because I’m not able to travel far and wide, I have found wonderful ways to photograph right in my own backyard or local landscape.

In our world today most people do not want to hear about God or the bible. I guess I was one of those people at one point in my life. It was only as a last resort I decided I would really put the Words in the bible to the test. For a long time nothing seem to happen, but I kept on searching the scriptures. Eventually Jesus would reveal Himself to me in many wonderful ways, and I soon realized He was always there….patiently waiting for me to come to Him.

I also see so much hate and despair in the world today and I think that it’s because most of us are not under the protection of God. There is a Spiritual Battle going on, and most of us are having our minds manipulated by Satan. Even as a Christian it would be very hard to fight this battle if we are not fully connected to God. So as you read my blogs you’ll find out about my faith in God and I will also share some of the beautiful imagery that He has given me to fill my mind with, through His nature.

    1. Thank you so much Barbara….I love nature and all it has to offer…the air, the sun, the birds and now my added love of photographing them….I feel very peaceful and free when I’m out enjoying nature.

    1. Thanks so much to you also. I wish my blog was reaching a lot more people, and that it could help many. Every day on the news I see so many people suffering needlessly and I know the solution is simple…. they are in need of a Saviour. We are all in need of a Saviour…..on a very deep level.

  1. hello Leola, I wanted you to know that this morning something strange happened on my blog Living on Vancouver Island, and all the posts disappeared save for two I did this morning. I was very distraught about this and in my flight mode, deleted the blog. But this afternoon it was impressed upon me by the Lord that I needed to focus on my being a Christian, and so I came to WordPress and found that in 2013 I had registered a blog called Take No Thought for Tomorrow and never used it. So from today I am focusing on this blog about being a Christian and would love it if you visited. the URL is
    blessings to you,
    Vicki (selah)

    1. Hi Vicki (selah) Funny about your post being deleted….last week most of my pictures disappeared, I got in touch with WordPress, and they said they could see them from their side….then they appeared again. Other people seem to be having other issues also….not sure what’s going on!!

      1. That is so strange.. maybe a glitch with WordPress but I felt it was from the Lord for me.. so onward and upward. 🙂

  2. Oh, you are a gift from God today, Leola (same name as my late beloved aunt). I love Jesus, and am so grateful that He is Emmanuel–very Present with me in yet another dark season (depression/anxiety). The enemy’s attacks are Real! The only benefit is that, as God has matured my faith in Him–and our intimate love-relationship–I’m more able to recognize satan’s tactics (he’s not very smart, uses the same tricks most of the time). I pray God blesses you today according to His Abundant Riches and Favor. Thank you for being here.

    1. Thank you so much for visiting my page Bella. You are on the right track when you recognize that satan is the one trying to derail you. I find that the closer I get to God the harder it is for him to get to me. I’m glad that you know God….keep hanging tight to Him and He will always see you through. One day soon this long dark night will be over and we will finally get to dwell with Him in eternity…that is my ultimate heart’s desire as I look forward to that day. My wish is also for the world to know God and to realize the havoc that satan is having on their lives, because if we are not under the covering of God, we are open to the manipulations of Satan.

      1. So true–I look forward to the day of our homecoming with you, Leola. Heard a great message at church about the Sovereignty and Immutability of God–and why these are the reasons Believers need to be praying MORE. <3

      2. I think many people today think that the bible is antiquated, but we know that God and His word does not change…..if He healed then, He can heal now…..if He poured out His Holy Spirit then, He can do the same now…..We are the ones who need the faith to believe, and we would see big things happen in our lives.

  3. Its great that you found God; even at your lowest point. God never forgot about you and now because of your close relationship with God, you can now experience the full power of God’s Plan for your life. God Bless You and may He keep you focused on the brilliance of His Creations: Nature and Wildlife.

You mentioned your chronic illness; well God has already healed you when Jesus died in your place. REMEMBER THAT.

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to leave me this information and scripture. God is good, and there is certainly strength to be found in His word. I do also find gospel music to be a good source of strengthening. I will be sure to check those songs out. Thanks again!!

  4. What a beautiful write–our Lord is altogether lovely, isn’t He! I remember when God seemed so very distant, unapproachable–and His Word, the Bible seemed dry and tedious. I’m so very grateful that, although I’d been saved since early teens, in March 2011 JESUS showed up in a BIG way–changed my life completely. Now, at nearly 65, He’s Everything to me! And the Bible is an adventure story I can well relate to. God is Good and Faithful–the Good Shepherd, He continues to chase after those He’s chosen and set apart; and when we hear His voice, it’s Wonderful! I’m happy to meet you here, Leola–may God bless your day abundantly <3

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment on my “About” page. God is such a good source of strength, if we will allow Him to be our Guide. I’m so glad to hear that you found the Lord, and that you continue to walk with Him as I do. It’s the only way to live. Glad to meet you and may our paths continue to cross here on WordPress.

  5. I enjoyed reading through your about page, so much truth there! I am looking forward to spending more time reading on your site. Thanks for liking a comment I made on another blog! If you have a chance please check out my blog, would love to have you. I too love God’s wonderful creation and due to disabilities I am unable to get out far from home like I used to do, and I now have started with photography a bit, though I have much to learn in that area! I plan to start a special section on my blog soon talking about God’s creation. We truly do need to draw closer to God and spend time in His word each day or Satan does get the upper hand all too easily. Our strength is in God for sure and He does give us all we need. God bless!

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by Steve, I will be sure to stop by and check out your blog. It’s wonderful to be on WordPress and come across other Christians who love the Lord. I know that God do not enjoy seeing His children suffering, but I do believe that He allows certain things in our lives for a reason. Without my illness I never would have gotten to know Him on the level that I now do. I think I will start a section soon where I will share different experiences I’ve had with Him. Blessings to you.

  6. Such a beautiful, inspiring blog you have here. Full of hope and truth. I’m so happy I came across it today. <3 God bless you. I'll be back to read more soon. 🙂
