Migrating Birds:
I’ve always wanted to see green winged teals and I finally got a chance during this years migration. Not only did I get a chance, but it has been good to see them up close, when they stopped for food in a marsh close by.

They did seem very skittish at first, but after a while they got use to their adoring fans. Further more, they spent much time feeding in the marsh, so that they would be ready for the long journey.

These are northern shovelers. It was also good to see them not only up close, but also in good light. I’m glad these beautiful creatures chose a marsh close by to rest and to get some food. The birds all seem to know its wise to stop and take a break and get refreshed.

Though it is now getting very cold here is Southern Ontario, it is still lovely to get out in nature, and there is still lots to see.
Stopping For Food And Rest:
When taking a road trip some of us like to go straight without making too many stops. Even if we don’t want to stop, we will have to do so to fill up our vehicles. It is also wise to pay attention to our physical needs by stopping to take a rest and to get some food for energy before going our way.
Feeding the Five Thousand:
….When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities. 14 And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. 15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”
16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”
18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.” 19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. 21 Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. Matthew 14:13-22
Food Is A Necessity:
Perhaps Jesus knew that it was bests to feed the people before sending them on their way. It had been a long day, and they may have fainted before making it into the city to purchase food. There are also other times when Jesus also joined His disciples for a meal.
Breakfast By the Sea:
Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?”
They answered Him, “No.”
6 And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.”So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.
7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea. 8 But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish. 9 Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.”
11 Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast.” Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, “Who are You?”—knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish. John 21:5-13
