Challenge Triumphant Thursday: We Should Not Bow To Idols

Scroll down to content

1   Every Thursday I would give you a word from the Bible. You find a scripture to go with the word. If you want you can write a little bit on what the scripture means to you. Don’t forget to follow  mycreatorscreation so you won’t miss out on this challenge.

Today’s Word: Idol

Idols can bring great pleasure to many. We may have an idol in our life without truly realizing that it’s an idol. However, the Lord frowns on people who put their idols before God.

Two different words for Idols are statues and images. This photo is of a statue in the lovely Quebec City.

Scripture:

“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. Exodus 20:4

“Your name, Lord, endures forever, your renown, Lord, through all generations. For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants. The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by human hands. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see. They have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.” Psalms‬ ‭135:13-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬
