Elfchen Poems
If you’re looking for something to do while in lockdown or stay at home orders, try reading the Bible or writing poems, or both….you may find it quite rewarding….I do.
An Elfchen Poem is a poem which contains only eleven words and is therefore a very short poem. The first line has one word, the secind line has two words, the third line has three words, the fourth line has four words and the fifth line has one word.
We Live:
We
Lay down
Sleep and wake
For God sustains us.
Live
Scripture:
I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the Lord sustained me. Psalm 3:5 BibleGateway.com
No Guarantee:
When we go to sleep at night we do not have the assurance that we may awake to see another day though many of us take it for granted. God sees and cares for us when we are asleep and He keeps us breathing so that we may live to see another day. I will try to rest in Him and do not take His goodness for granted.

We’re Secured:
We
Fear not
Though we’re surrounded
By tens of thousands
Secured
Scripture:
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people
Who have set themselves against me all around. Psalm 3:6 BibleGateway.com
What It Means To Be Secure In Jesus:
This one is easier said than done….but, to be secured in Jesus does not mean we live a life without any conflict, what it does mean that when we put our trust in God, He will be with us and help us through our difficulties, whether we realize it or not. The Bible also tells us that though we may die, we will yet live…so if we die believing and trusting in God, one day we will live in eternity with Him. This is something for all of us (me) to strive for…to remember.
God Delivers:
God
Will save
Eventually enemies stricken;
And ungodly’s teeth broken.
Delivers
Scripture:
Arise, O Lord;
Save me, O my God!
For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone;
You have broken the teeth of the ungodly. Psalm 3:7 BibleGateway.com
Your words are beautiful.
Thanks so much Nora, they are all based on Scripture.
That is a great Psalm, in a way fitting for these days.
It is…it’s a good reminder for us to wait on the Lord and not to take matters into our hands. One day God will make all wrongs right. He has an eternal home waiting for us, and enemies will have no part in that home, so we must remain focus on our eternal home and not let the enemy steal our joy. Something to strive for, as it is at times easier said than done.
Yes, you are correct, and I was reminded today, I need to live in today and be joyful! For the most part I do focus on my blessings and all that is good.
