Today’s Word: Self-Control

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. 2 Timothy 3:1-5

“By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things.” Galatians 5:22-23

Apostle Paul shares much truth with these words from Scripture. May we always be seeking and following these fruits of the Spirit.

“Like cold water to a thirsty soul, So is good news from a distant land. Like a muddied fountain and a polluted spring Is a righteous man who yields and compromises his integrity before the wicked. It is not good to eat much honey, Nor is it glorious to seek one’s own glory. Like a city that is broken down and without walls [leaving it unprotected] Is a man who has no Self-control over his spirit [and sets himself up for trouble].” ‭Proverbs‬ ‭25:25-28‬ ‭AMP‬‬
God’s love, water for a thirty soul. The Good News, what Jesus died to give our hearts. The fountain is being muddied, righteousness a polluted sea… of compromised hearts. Integrity yielding to what is wicked. God’s love is full of honey, but hearts will not seek the glory. The world is broken, the foundation in distress. How can we have God’s
protection, when Self-control… is what we lack?
