While visiting family in Quebec last year, one of the places we visited was the Botanical Garden. It was a beautiful garden, and I was so surprised to come across a lush vegetable garden. The plants looked so healthy, but in spite of all the closures we now have, I wonder if the garden will suffer in any way.
In the autumn as we were driving along a country road in Ontario, we came across an apple orchard laden with apples, all ready to be picked. This was last year in the fall, now there could be trouble with this years harvest if the farmers don’t get workers to do the pruning during this Coronavirus Crisis that we are experiencing.
These beautiful fruits and leafy vegetables above brings another garden to mind.
Eden must have been the most beautiful ever, with all the plants and trees being watered with mist that came from the ground, as in the very beginning there was no rain. And God placed the man Adam, and the woman Eve in the Garden, and along with tending to the garden He told them what they were to eat for food.
Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. Genesis 1:29-30
If sin had not crept in, our diet would have been a total plant base diet. After the flood, meat would be added to the diet, perhaps because the plants and the trees were destroyed by the flood.
Well we have no need to fear because Eden will be restored once again. One day soon, all God’s children will eat from the tree of life and we will live forever and ever.
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. Revelation 22:1-4
[ Meditate on These Things ] Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8
When we fill our minds with the beauty and the possibilities that await us, we will see our fears and anxiousness fade away.

I loved going through the country area around Windsor – Essex when everything was in season. All types of road side stands, my favorite was a stand that served fresh hot corn on the cob with lots of butter.
It was nothing to see my grandmother canning to have fruits, etc., for the winter season.
I live in Saskatchewan and it is just not the same experience.
Yes, I love visiting the Farmers Markets especially in the autumn months. My husband loves the corn. I get all different kinds of squash to make my soup over the winter months. We usually also get apples, but one year I would like to actually go apple picking. All the vegetables are so nice and fresh… I love them. Too bad you don’t find it that way in Saskatchewan.
