How We Can All Overcome Darkness #3

I continue with a series of poems which stem from dreams coming at a difficult time in my life. If you missed the first two poems you can read them here: Billowing Waves  The Deep

Engulfed By Total Darkness

Engulfed by total darkness,

Nothing can be seen or heard.

Feelings of uncertainty all around,

Losing my footing; there is nothingness,

Where once I stood on solid ground.

Engulfed by total darkness,

It’s hard to breathe, my head is light.

Not knowing what the outcome would be,

The darkness seems thicker than the night.

Engulfed by total darkness,

There is no room to turn.

I’m praying and waiting on my Lord,

I know He will bring the dawn.

Sometimes God will show up just when we need Him, and other times though He is still there He remains silent. This was one of those times where He remained silent for what seemed like an eternity. At times like this, it is a good time to  Pray Until Something Happens and that is all I could do, was to keep crying out to God until I finally felt His presence again.

We are engulfed in such darkness right now, with the crisis that we are facing around the globe and it is also a good time for us to seek God in prayer, and to keep praying until something happens.

O Lord; Do not keep silence. O Lord, do not be far from me. Psalm 35:22

We don’t have to live our lives feeling like we have been left alone by God. He is always with us whether we recognize His presence or not. We know that Scripture also tells us to keep seeking after God, keep seeking Him with all our hearts and He will reveal Himself to us. I am happy that I can now say that I live most of my life recognizing the presence and the nearness of my Lord and Saviour.

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

  1. Sometimes God doesn’t come when we think He should.
Mary and Martha were two people just like that. Their brother Lazurus had died and no Jesus.
Lazurus was entombed when Jesus showed up. They scolded Christ by saying, if you had been here he would not have died.
Christ asks where he was laid. We know the rest of the story, Christ goes to the opening of the tomb and cries out “Lazurus come forth”. When we allow Christ to work in His time, He is always on time!

    1. This is very true, sometimes we just have to wait on God….Wait with the faith and hope that He will eventually come.
