Today’s Word: Deliver

Sometimes it’s hard to just choose one scripture, so below I have chosen two.

But the Lord your God you shall fear; and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.” 2 Kings 17:39

In the scripture above the word “fear” means love, awe, reverence. It is being used in the most positive way possible. If in doubt check your dictionaries. When we fear God in this way, by showing Him our love, by giving Him our reverence, He is sure to deliver us from the hand of our enemies.

“When they sin against You (for there is no one who does not sin), and You become angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, and they take them captive to the land of the enemy, far or near; 1 Kings 8:46

As stated in the above scripture, all of us are guilty of sin. The beauty of this is; when we make a turn in our lives and try to walk away from sin, God will give us a helping hand to stay walking in the right direction. If with His help we continue walking, He will deliver us.

The second scripture also states that God will “deliver them to the enemy.” Just know that the same way God will give us a helping hand when He sees us trying to shun evil, He will also give us the freedom to walk in the opposite direction. He will never “deliver” us into horrible situations. These places that we end up, most of the time we have chosen to walk in this way. The minute we cry out to Him, however, He will make a way to see us through all in His good timing.

Exodus 3:7-8
Then the Lord said, “I have observed the misery of my people who are in Egypt; I have heard their cry on account of their taskmasters. Indeed, I know their sufferings, and I have come down to deliver them from the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey . . . .”
God hears our cries just as He heard the cries of Israel held captive in Egypt. Our all-knowing God is God, who will deliver us from our trials.

“He said: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my Deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior— from violent people you save me. “I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and have been saved from my enemies.” 2 Samuel‬ ‭22:2-4‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Hallelujah, the Lord is my rock!

He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. – Psalm 91:15
No matter what trouble we might be in, all we have to do is call upon His Name and He’ll deliver us out of trouble.
