How I Know God Hears When We Cry

Scroll down to content

Today I am still reading in the Old Testament, and as I continue to read I see the wisdom that it has to offer us even today.

Many times even though we know what God requires of us, we will seek to work things out in our own way. By not allowing God to be our Guide, we open our selves up to many dangers. This is exactly what the Israelite were doing. They turned their backs on God, who had supplied them with food and with land. They also killed His people. By doing all these things they removed themselves from under God’s covering.

In the scriptures it says: Nehemiah 9:27 Therefore You (God) delivered them into the hand of their enemies,….

God did not take the people to the enemies, they place themselves there through their disobedience, and their actions. This is the place where they took themselves and God allowed the to be where they wanted to be. But as soon as the people realized what they had done and cried out to God, He was there to help them and He also allowed people to be there to help them out of their difficult situation.

Today, we may not experience the exact situation that those Israelite did, but we still tend to think we know best, and will often walk in ways which are not according to God. We too, many times end up in very difficult situations, but when we turn and look to God, He will hear our faintest cry.

“Nevertheless they were disobedient
And rebelled against You,
Cast Your law behind their backs
And killed Your prophets, who testified against them
To turn them to Yourself;
And they worked great provocations.

 Therefore You delivered them into the hand of their enemies,
Who oppressed them;
And in the time of their trouble,
When they cried to You,
You heard from heaven;
And according to Your abundant mercies
You gave them deliverers who saved them
From the hand of their enemies.

Nehemiah 9:26-27

  1. Mankind continues to stumble just as the Israelites did. Without God’s redeeming and forgiving love assisted by His only begotten Son, we would feel so alone and overwhelmed.
