I know that many of us today would rather leave out the Old Testament and skip to the reading of the New Testament, but there are many valuable lessons in the Old Testament we would be missing out on.
The God in the Old Testament is still the God of the New Testament. We dislike much of the sternness in the Old Testament, but before this earth is completely cleansed, we also will have many dark days ahead of us, because when Jesus returns He will be returning as a Lion and not as a Lamb, and we know what a Lion is Like. This is where the separation of good and evil will be made.
Why A Church, Temple, “House Of The Lord Is Important:”
Today many of us think that we can serve God in any manner without entering a building, and while some aspects of that is true, I do believe that to take time out to worship in the House of the Lord is also important.
Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways! 8 Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified,” says the Lord. Haggai 1:7-8
The people seemed to be taking care of their own affairs and because many hurdles seem to be getting in their way, they put off the building of God’s temple, which He had asked them to build.
When God ask us to do something we need to boldly do it regardless of what our fellow man may say. He tells us to do what is usually best for us.
Because the people hesitated to do as God asked, here are some of the things that were happening to them as they took care of their own affairs. These things are still happening to us today. Is it because that we too are not walking in the way that God wants us too!
1: They sowed much, and brought in little.
2: They ate, but did not have enough.
3: They drank, but never felt filled.
4: They were clothed, but still felt cold.
5: The earned their wages but couldn’t seem to keep them.
You looked for much, but indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?” says the Lord of hosts. “Because of My house that is in ruins, Haggai 1:9
This is how we know that God’s House of Worship is very important to Him. We also benefit very much from having a House of Worship. As we gather, we gain energy and support from each other. If we fall, there is someone we can also turn too to help us through our tough times.
God knows what is best for us. When we worship Him and communicate with Him, and allow Him to be our Guide, He will:
1: Turn the little we have sowed into a bounty.
2: With the little we have to eat, it will be plenty.
3: When we drink, we will be filled.
4: The rags we may wear will still keep us warm.
5: The little pennies we have will continually be replenished.
Conclusion:
It’s of the utmost important to do as God ask us too, and we will live peaceful and abundant lives.
God has nothing against us taking care of our own personal affairs, but the House of God also needs to be taken care of. Many may say this is the Old Testament and does not apply now, but when Jesus walked this earth, He could be found in the temple learning, and then later He was teaching in the synagogues.
Yes, while we can serve God any and every where, I believe a House of Worship is still very important.
