I am a Christian who believes in Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I also believe that Jesus will soon return to this earth.
I believe that if the Caterpillar can fly we too can learn to fly. We just have to attach our wings in the right place. As you know the Caterpillar uses the Milk Weed as its host, its source for food. And we too have a "Host" and He also provides us with abundant food. If we used the fuel from this food (Scripture) effectively, we too would be able to fly. Our "Minds" can be freed from all burdens and stress. We can more easily be lifted up when we allow God to be our Host. He would continually feed us. God through His word can teach us how to fly...if only in our thoughts and minds.

There might be different answers to your question. However, one of them I think is that we/I often go to look for something, but my mind is far away. Sometimes it might be that we have our own perspective on what something should look like, and with that in mind we miss out the things/details that are in front of us.
You mentioned Mark 8:18
I think we often have not the same mind as God. Having the mind of Christ with in us will help us see the things the way God sees them. Just before verse 18 Jesus asked the disciples “Are your hearts hardened?” ESV
You are right in saying, ” Sometimes it might be that we have our own perspective on what something should look like, and with that in mind we miss out the things/details that are in front of us.” With our limited thinking we think we know so much, instead of relying on our God to guide us.
