When speaking of faith, the Bible refers to it like running a race. I am not a runner, but when watching runners in a race you will see just by looking at them that they have a lot of grit. The firmness of character will show on their face. Some may fall down but they will get up and start running again.
Though all may be taking part in the same race, some will take the lead from the beginning, while others may be slower, but yet they keep a steady pace. So it is with our faith in Jesus Christ. Many of us can be at differing levels, but the thing is to keep going forward, don’t give up. Even when you can’t see the finish line, still hang in there and know that the finish line could be just around the next bend.
Some will finish the race battered and bruised, and so it also should be with our faith. Regardless of the set backs, we should pledge to go forward with Christ. Eventually He will give us that much needed boost. He will and is revealing Himself to us in so many ways. We just need to keep the faith and keep moving forward.
….The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong,…Ecclesiastes 9:11
[ Striving for a Crown ] Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. 1 Corinthians 9:24
[ The Race of Faith ] Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Hebrews 12:1
Having faith with God certainly feels like a race, but it works better when the pace is steady and true. Our faith journey isn’t meant to be a sprint.
Leola, thanks for sharing your faith with others.
