We will often hear that we cannot work our way into heaven and that is so true. For we all know that it is only by the grace of God that we are saved. So if any are doing good works, trying to be a good person without any connection to God, they won’t get very far.
knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. Galatians 2:16
The above scripture tells us that no man will be upheld by his works of the law but only by the faith that found in Christ Jesus. But; how do we show our faith for Christ Jesus?
When we take a look at the scriptures below we will see that in order to be connected to God and to establish a relationship with Him, we cannot have one without the other—-meaning it is important to have both works and faith, you cannot say you have one and not the other, and still have a relationship with God.
If you have faith, it should be very evident in your life by the things (works) you do. Your life should be one of evangeliving where Christ is clearly seen in the things which you do. Your faith will be complimenting your works and the works you do will be because of the faith you have in Christ Jesus.
[ Faith Without Works Is Dead ] What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? James 2:14
But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. James 2:18
But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? James 2:20
Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? James 2.22
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:26
Amen, when we believe in Jesus we die to sin and live for righteousness. I wrote a post about this topic back in August of 2018 when I first started blogging. It’s called “Completed Faith.” It is linked on the “My Beliefs” page on my blog. God bless!
Thanks for reading Ryan. I’ll have to remember to take a look at your post.
God’s plan to emphasize faith over works as a path to receive His gift of grace separates Christianity from most of other world religions.
Yes, we must have faith, but then His works must shine through and illuminate that faith even more.
