Today’s Word: Cast

The dictionary meaning for the word cast is to throw off or to throw away. Some of the other words used in place of cast is: heave, fling, thrust, and toss.

Scripture tells us that we must cast all our cares on God, yet so many of us continue to do the opposite. We hold on to our cares which are very stressful, while trying to deal with them in our own strength.

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7 Bible Gateway (NKJV)

When we respectfully go before God, recognizing Him as the Almighty God and Savior, we are showing that we recognize God for who He is. When we acknowledge Him, He will acknowledge us. (Jeremiah 29:13) A relationship is establish between us and God, and we are asked to let go of our cares—cast them, thrust them on God, so that we may more freely walk with Him.

Depression And Anxiety:

Many refuse to throw their cares upon God for a variety of reasons, perhaps from unbelief, or because they think they can do a better job than God. Others may disrespectfully approach God, never the less He is a loving God, but He is also a God of order, and should be approach respectfully.

We just don’t throw our cares to God and leave Him (Jeremiah 29:13) we are to continually stick close to Jehovah, forming even closer bonds, while day after day we give Him all our cares, and patiently wait to see how He will respond. Most of all we must have faith that He will respond in His own time, and that calls for us to have a positive attitude.

Waiting For Relief:

We have now cast our burdens on God, and we should start behaving like we are relieved of a burden even if we don’t feel like it. This calls for thinking and behaving in a positive manner. Wait patiently for God to answer and in the mean time lean toward the lighter side of life instead of the darkness. The Scripture below tells us what we are to fill our minds with, what we are to meditate on.

Meditate on These Things ] Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8

“He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish.”

So many takeaways from this verse. If we just trust, if we truly believe. If we’re willing to cast our faith, into God’s love. Abundance, blessings; more than a heart, can ever hope…
