Most of us are very health conscious. We are making healthier choices and we also know that food is not to be eaten quickly, that it is best when chewed and eaten slowly. When we eat this way we are more likely to taste the sweetness, and it is also much better for the digestive system.
The same way we take such care when eating our food, is also the way we are to take care when reading God’s Word. God’s Word is our Spiritual Food, and we need to take our time reading as we do when we are eating. We are to ponder the Words we are reading and we will get a better understanding as we slowly digest our Spiritual Food.
Spiritual Immaturity: For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. Hebrews 5:12
The above Scripture refers to The Word of God as Spiritual Food, and the ones who should have known better had to be fed on milk just like a little child would. We all need to get to that place in our lives where we can take in solid food, eating and enjoying and slowly digesting. We need to take this Spiritual Food in a way where it stays with us forever, and we never forget the Word of God, it will bring an abundance of Spiritual Health to our minds.
Amen!
Amen. I like this analogy. Sometimes we rushed through the passage without chewing or pondering on the word. That is why so much Christians cannot grow because they are not allowing the Word of God to nourish them. Hence, I don’t believe in trying to read off the Bible in one year. I prefer to spend my entire lifetime reading the word slowly to get the revelation from it. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks again for reading and for taking the time to comment!!
