In the scripture, the day before the onset of Shabbat is called “Preparation Day” (Mark 15:42; Luke 23:54; John 19:31). Jesus was laid in the grave on Preparation Day which is a Friday. We know He had to power to rise from that grave at any time, but He rested in the grave on what would have been the Sabbath, a very important day, (high day.)
