Complex & Sophisticated
We all like to think that we live in a complex and sophisticated world, and the more complex of sophisticated the better. With all that we have at our disposal, many are still walking around discontented and complaining of feeling empty within, while others are depressed, anxious and fearful.
Many try to solve their problems by drugs or by drinking and this only add more fuel to the fire. Some seek self-help books which will only take them so far. If we don’t have emotional issues we are suffering from physical ailments. Many of our issues could be brought on by things we may have done in the past. This is not always the case, as sometimes there is no explanation for why things happen the way they do.
One thing is sure, we have all sinned. We all have done things that we now regret–if not all, most of us. God can have no part of sin and so this is what separates us from Him.
But your iniquities have separated you from your God;
And your sins have hidden His face from you,
So that He will not hear. Isaiah 59:2
Making A Change
This is not the end of the story, as things do not have to remain that way. If we choose to live in sin, then we are choosing to separate ourselves from God, and He can be no part of sin. But once we show regret for what we have done, once we turn to God and ask for forgiveness, He will never ever turn His face from us. He will watch us and guide us every step of the way, waiting for us with open arms.
Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16
Releasing Weights
Jesus is our High Priest and scripture tells us that we can boldly approach His throne of grace, where He will show us how merciful and gracious He can be. He willingly forgives us of our sins. He carries all our burdens. While He carries all these burdens it means that we don’t have to carry them any longer. We can stop beating up on ourselves. Freedom is found in Jesus. He is there to lift the downtrodden, He is there to take our sadness and our anxiousness. We just need to learn how to let go of these weights, and find freedom in Jehovah. This is why Jesus came to this earth, to relieve us His weary children from carrying around our guilt and our shame. We can free ourselves of the burden.
Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all…….Isaiah 53:4-6
Finding Peace
We will never be able to find perfect peace anywhere else, except in Jesus. No one else will do for us what Jesus will. He takes all our sin and shame, and He gives us the wonderful gift of His righteousness. We just need to accept this gift. We need to know that we answer only to God and not to man. Our fellow man may try to keep us living in shame, but that comes from the enemy. Look only to God, and walk on in freedom.
Making A Stand For God
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
So now you know that Jesus died for you and me and that He really truly loves us. Now what you need to do is to “believe” it. Even when it doesn’t seem possible, you just need to believe. This is called having faith, and we need to exercise this faith each and every day, and when we do this, it will actually grow.
Repentance
When we take a stand for God we will start to see His power at work, in and around us. Don’t fight the wooing of the Holy Spirit. If you find that you are getting an urge to be lead away from whatever sin you may be taking part in, that is more than likely the leading of the Holy Spirit. Allow Him to be your Guide. He will not steer you wrong.
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, Acts 3:19
Confession
As God works within you, everything that you ever did wrong will be brought to mind, and right wherever you are, you just need to confess in the quietness of your own home, in your own mind. Confess your sins to God, because He knows what you have done any way. He is the one that you have sinned against. Tell Him that you are sorry and feel the peace as it washes over you. At least it did for me.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
Open Hearts Door
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelations 3:20
After you have repented and confessed all your sins, ask Jesus to come live in your heart. He will never turn His back on you. In my case, I heard tears in His voice and He told me He had been waiting for so long for me to come to Him. This is what I dreamed. We all experience Him differently and He will reveal Himself to you in His own special way. Do all these things and begin living more peacefully.

John 9:1-12
While your thesis may be correct,we cannot always attribute physical or emotional illness to the result of personal sin.It could also be the “great controversy” running its course. No matter what ,seeking and acepting God’s grace is the answer.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment Vasco, I really appreciate it. Here is my full statement in quotes, and notice I did say that sometimes there is no explanation why things happen the way they do. “If we don’t have emotional issues we are suffering from physical ailments. Many of our issues could be brought on by things we may have done in the past. This is not always the case, as sometimes there is no explanation for why things happen the way they do.”
I like what you also said about the great controversy playing out, because I really do think that is what is happening now in many of our lives. We are in a grave battle of spiritual warfare.
Very well said Leola! We find peace in Christ. Beautiful pictures as well!
