From a child Jesus knew He had a mission to complete. Most times He could be found in the temple learning from His elders. As He grew older He took up carpentry, but there was so much more that He would accomplish in His time on earth.

Healed

While Jesus walked on this earth He healed many people.

Jesus Heals a Great Multitude ] And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. Matthew 4:23

Jesus Heals a Centurion’s Servant ] Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, Matthew 8:5

Two Demon-Possessed Men Healed ] When He had come to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men,coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way. Matthew 8:28

Miracle

Water Turned to Wine

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”

Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”

His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.

Now there were set there six water-pots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. Jesus said to them, “Fill the water-pots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. 10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

Gospel Message

The Compassion of Jesus ] Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people Matthew 9:35

The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. Matthew 11:5

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14

These are a few of the many things that Jesus did while He walked the face of this earth. He was very fit and healthy Himself and if He wasn’t in a boat with His disciples, He could be found walking from village to village.

Compassion

As Jesus walked on from town to town, He brought great joy to those who sought Him out. The downtrodden felt lifted, the sorrowful felt joy again, and of course many of the sick were healed. Jesus showed great compassion toward women, who really were to be seen and not heard or even counted. He was and is Love and He has left us a wonderful example to follow.

Even though Jesus is now in the heavenly sanctuary, we can still connect with Him on a daily basis, and we can do this through prayer. When He was here, He spent much time in prayer and He left us with the Lord’s Prayer as the Model Prayer. He also prayed for Himself before facing the cross.

Jesus Prays for Himself ] Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. …John 17:1-4

We are now left with a perfect example as to how to connect with our Lord Jesus Christ, and that is through prayer. We should not wait till things go wrong in our lives to lift Him up, but we should make it part of our daily habit. When we awake in the morning one of the first things that we do, should be to lift up Jesus in prayer, and one of the last things before going to bed would be to lift Jesus up again, as nothing is to be taken for granted.

  1. Leola, the images of our Savior are many, and we can walk with His rich words each and every one of day. As you stated, daily prayer with Him helps to keep us on a righteous path.
