Doubting God
Are you tired of praying to God and asking for His help only to be greeted by silence?
Are you about to give up on God because you’re questioning whether He is really there or not?
Does God seem too far away to really be interested in your existence?
Is there really power held within the Words of the Bible?
Will it really make any difference having an unseen God be a part of your life?
Do you go to church from week to week but all remains the same?

Well if you’re anything like me, you have probably ask yourself these questions at one time or another. In my anger I had a conversation with God and I told Him I am putting His Words to the test, and I will see if they are really true and filled with life. Now looking back at it, that was perhaps the very first time I really was going to take the time to have a very close look at what the Words of the Bible really had to say, and I was going to do it myself. I was very angry because here I was serving God by going to church week after week and praying when I remembered too, but yet He seemed so far away and so removed from my life. Did He not care? Did He not see how much in pain I was, how depress I was?
Putting God To The Test
I didn’t realize what I was doing at first, but I started searching the scriptures on a daily basis. I didn’t just wait to go to church to listen to a sermon, or have someone tell me about God, I decided to search for Him myself. Mind you I would pick up some nuggets from the sermons, and one of those which spurred me on was “The Parable of the Hidden Treasure. I would carry the words of the sermon well into my week. I also decided that like the man in the parable, I too wanted to find my treasure.
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Matthew 13:44
So after reading the above scripture, that is how I started reading the scriptures. I wanted to find my treasure. I started in the Old Testament and went through the whole bible. The promises God gave to the Israelite, I also claimed every promise for myself.
Why Most Of Us Don’t Find God
I believe that most of us do not find God simply because we’re not looking to find Him. At that time I didn’t even know that this scripture existed, but when we start doing what we are instructed to do in the below scripture, we really will find God. I now can testify to that.
12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:12-13
Well when I read the above scripture I decided I would treat it very seriously. Even now many years later I realize just how important the above scripture really is. It’s a scripture not only for the Israelite, but for all of us, as we are all captives in one way or another. Many of us walk away from God, not believing He is really there because we are not searching for Him with all our hearts. We are to search for Him on a daily basis, minute by minute and second by second. We are not to only look to God when we are in need, but look to Him and worship Him for who He is.
Lean Toward Faith Not Logic
When searching for God, we have to believe that He is truly there, that everything in His Word is true. Will we still have some doubts? Of course, and at those times we just need to ask Him to help us with our unbelief.
Below is a dream I had while I was trying to find God and have Him acknowledge me:
Jesus was in the next room, at least I assumed it was Jesus, and He was motioning for me to come. It sounded easy enough, but the only way to get to the place where He was, was to go through a small opening in the wall. He beckon towards me again, and I told Him I couldn’t come any further. Jesus was encouraging me. He told me I could, but I told Him it was impossible, as I could not fit through such a small opening in the wall.
I stood there looking at the wall, and logically thinking there was no way that I could fit my body through the space. There I was stuck, as going back was not an option and it seemed like I would not make it any further forward either. Again Jesus beckon for me to come, and again I told Him I could not work my body through that tiny hole. This is when He told me to use my head. I looked at the hole, and it also looked too small to fit my head through, so now I was facing another dilemma, and even if I got my head through, there is no way my shoulders and the rest of my body would fit. Against my better judgement I approached the small opening and placed my head in. I’m not sure how, but before I knew it, I was on the other side of the wall with Jesus.
Most times we look at things logically and if they don’t seem to make sense to us we refuse to try them. Even though things may not make sense to us, we need to put our trust in God, and do as His Word tells us. In the dream I was told to use my head in order to get closer to Jesus, and in reality, if we would use our minds to have faith and to believe in God, we would have a much better relationship with Him.
Acknowledgement
So if you want to have God acknowledge you, you need to search for Him with all your heart. Search for Him as if you’re looking to find something or someone special, someone you just can’t do without, and when you search for Him in this way, you will find Him.
12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:12-13
Amen!!! May we always love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength! God bless!

Amen! Such a great post! I’ve had my share of doubts and testing. 🙂
Thanks so much, Michelle for your kind words. Yes, I know that feeling. We have all had our doubt and testing from time to time.🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you for sharing your dream! Great post! 😊
Thank you so much. In response to the dream—thanks. I know that you too have a lot of dreams. I use to have a lot more when I was younger.
Amen, Leola! Thanks for this inspiring, encouraging post. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your faith journey. While we walk with the Lord, we must realize that it will be lifelong journey with Him. He will challenge us in ways that we can never imagine. Thanks be to God!
Amen— It’s so good to be a child of God.
Very helpful… The Lord is good!
Thank you, Michael–yes, our God is so awesome!!
interesting and spiritually educative post…my best part is that we should lean towards faith; don’t lean on logic or good experiences
Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Yes, we do have to lean towards faith. For those who tend to look for the logical where God is concerned, they usually walk away without believing in Him.
It’s when we search for Him with all your heart, we realize that He’s their waiting; for our hearts to acknowledge His presence! Well said!
Thank you so much Warren!🙏🏽🙏🏽
You’re welcome!
Love your posts. This one hit me with a massive force! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much stopping by and leaving your kind remarks.
We need to search for God as if our very life depends on it.
Which it really does. Yes we need to search with all our hearts.
