I know well the dark days of winter,

When the dark clouds

Seemed to pull my eyelids close.

I know well the dark days of winter

Sinking, sinking, deeper and deeper

Would I have the strength to walk again!

I know well the dark days of winter

When my heart would race

When anxiousness paralyzed.

I know full well the dark days of winter

Wondering if the sun would ever shine again.

Now in the dark days of winter

I look for ways to replace the sun

Walking the trails on a dark wintry day

Feeling the sweetness of crisp cold air,

A great replacement for sunshine rays.

Many hobbies keep me focus

They take my mind to beautiful spots.

Many things to do, keeping busy

Best of all is when I focus on the Rock.

For those who may be reading this poem and you’re not a Christian, you may be wondering about the last line of the poem where I say: “Best of all is when I focus on the Rock.” The Rock refers to Jesus Christ. When we focus on Him, He will straighten all the crooked paths in our lives.
