Purple is a color that you will find in the Old Testament of the bible. When the Lord told Moses what He wanted in the way of His earthly sanctuary the color purple was mentioned, so we know it must be a very important color and also a very symbolic one.
The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering………..3 These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze; 4 blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair;…………9 “Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you” Says the Lord. Exodus 25 : 2 – 9
We see purple being used again in the New Testament before Jesus is placed on the cross. Even though they mocked Him and poked fun at Him, they still placed Jesus in this rich color, that is used throughout the making of the earthly sanctuary.
They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him.
